Frequently Asked Questions

MORE NEWS

1) How do the tee shirts fit?

Most Storyville tees are printed on 100% cotton, American Apparel brand tee shirts. These shirts are not pre-shrunk, so they will shrink if they are placed in the dryer. The unisex-cut American Apparel tee shirt is cut like a traditional men's tee shirt, although it runs about a half-size smaller than Hanes, Fruit of the Loom or Gildan brand t-shirts. The female-cut American Apparel tee shirt is significantly smaller than the unisex cut (a female XL is about the same size as a unisex medium tee). Compared to the unisex cut, the female cut tee has smaller sleeves, is more narrow in the torso and is shorter in length.

If a product is printed on a something other than a 100% cotton American Apparel t-shirt, it will be noted on the product page. Click here to see sizing charts for the unisex cut and the female-specific cut American Apparel jersey-style tee shirts.

2) What is Storyville’s refund/exchange policy?

We want you to love your Storyville tees, and we want them to fit right so that you’ll wear them day and night. If it doesn’t fit right, contact us here to let us know which size you would like, so we can make sure that we have it in stock. Then mail us back the non-washed, non-worn item and we’ll send you the new size.

Most of the shirts are 100% cotton and will shrink in the dryer, so keep that in mind when purchasing.

The “female cut” tees are fitted and a fair bit smaller than the regular “unisex” cut, which is your good ole standard t-shirt cut. For example, a “female large” is closer to a “unisex small” in width, but it is shorter in length and the sleeves are capped.

3) Where do your designs come from?

Almost all of our new designs come from our online design contests. Generally speaking, each tee shirt design contest runs for two weeks and features a $1,000 top prize. The winning designs always become Storyville tees or kids clothes. We also often convert non-winning designs into Storyville Apparel. Click here to find out about the latest contest and to read about the contest rules.

4) Can I sell a design to Storyville?

Almost all of our new designs come from our online design contests. But we can also sometimes purchase designs a la carte. If we buy your design, you'll receive a one-time payment and we then will own the design outright. We do not pay royalties to artists on designs. Think you have a hot new design that we would love? Shoot us an e-mail at josh@storyvilleapparel.com. Please understand that we receive hundreds of submissions each year, and we purchase very few of the designs submitted to us. Only the best designs make it onto Storyville tees and kids clothes.

5) Can I get Storyville to screen print my tee shirts, kids clothes and baby clothes?

Right now, we are not taking any screen printing orders from new customers. We regret that we cannot provide this service at the moment, but we're spending all of our printing time keeping our retail shops' shelves stocked. We are in the process of aquiring an automatic screen printing press, and once we go automatic, we'll be able to resume offering commercial screen printing services to our customers.

8) I bought a shirt online. How long will it take to reach me?

Most Internet orders ship within 72 hours of purchase. In certain cases, items may take one to two weeks to ship. Since all of our items are printed by hand in small batches, we run out of sizes a lot of times, but we're usually fairly quick to print another batch. Once an item has shipped, it usually takes 3-5 days to reach you. All items are shipped via the US Postal Service (please don't cancel Saturday delivery, USPS!). Shipping for all orders is a flat rate of $3.50 (no matter how many items you order). Shipments that weigh more than 13 ounces are automatically upgraded to Priority Mail, with no additional cost to you. Other than the complimentary Priority Mail upgrade, no expedited shipping options are available.
